Institute Student Mentor
Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology
2014 - Present
As the Institute Student Mentor, was assigned a group of 16 freshmen and guided them through their first year in the institute. Helped them understand the challenges and opportunities present in the Institute and develop a smooth transition to campus life. Played an important role in helping troubled students cope with academic, extra-academic and personal problems. Counselled academically weak undergraduate first year students and proactively tried to identify problems of the general student populace and to bring them to the notice of the concerned authorities. Strived to make the mentees self reliant and independent. As a Student Mentor represented the department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) 2014, through which the students were admitted to the institute. Got an opportunity to have a closer look of the admission process and dealt with the queries of parents and students at the time of admission.
